Raudsepa will have a power capacity of 192 MW and an energy storage capacity of 420 MWh. The project is backed by Taaleri Energia\u2019s SolarWind III Fund and co-investors. Construction will begin in September 2026, with the facility expected to be fully operational by November 2027.<\/p>\n
According to Magno Kure<\/strong>, Smartecon’s CEO, delivering Raudsepa battery storage facilities requires extensive expertise in both energy systems and infrastructure construction. \u201cWe are responsible for delivering the entire facility, from design through to commissioning. The engineering challenge lies in integrating the battery storage equipment, control systems and 330 kV substation into a fully functioning system that meets grid code requirements. We manage equipment supply, construction and commissioning as one integrated process,\u201d said Kure.<\/p>\n Battery storage is an essential part of today\u2019s energy system. It helps balance electricity generation and consumption throughout the day, stabilise electricity prices and support the system at critical times.<\/p>\n Raudsepa\u2019s 420 MWh storage capacity is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 150 households, assuming 2,800 kWh per household per year.<\/p>\n According to J\u00fcri Tamm<\/strong>, co-CEO of Verston Group, Europe\u2019s infrastructure must be planned with transport and energy systems in mind. \u201cReliable connections and a secure energy supply underpin Europe\u2019s economy and security. Evecon and French independent power producer Corsica Sole developed it. The facility will use LG Energy Solution\u2019s battery storage equipment and European-made inverters from Power Electronics.<\/p>\n Smartecon O\u00dc is an energy infrastructure company founded in 2012 that designs, builds and maintains energy generation and storage solutions. Over 14 years, the company has built more than 1,000 solar power plants across five countries. In 2025, Smartecon reported revenue of nearly EUR 35 million and a net profit of EUR 0.3 million. Smartecon is part of Verston Group.<\/p>\n Verston is an infrastructure construction and maintenance group founded in Estonia and expanding internationally, with activities spanning roads, railways, energy and urban infrastructure.
